Tree# 111
Species: Ponderosa Pine
Estimated Age: 90 Years
Collected: 5/08
Price: $250 Shipping: $125
Comments: Great possibilities for a literati pine.
Here’s an interesting comparison of two ponderosa seedlings. The one on the left, 8 or 9 years old, has a normal form with needles about 2.5” in length. The one on the right, probably 20 years old, has needles an inch, or less, in length, and a ramified branch structure. Since both are growing in the same conditions, what’s the cause? Probably genetics.
